Whereby SDK & Product Updates June 2026

Over the last few months, we’ve been making incremental improvements across Whereby, with a particular focus on the developer experience. Here’s what’s new

 The transcriptions REST API reference

We've published a dedicated REST API reference for transcriptions, making it easier to integrate and manage the transcription feature directly through the API.

The API supports creating new transcriptions for specified recordings, listing and retrieving transcription details like metadata, generating access links to share or download transcripts, and deleting individual or multiple transcriptions in bulk.

Check out the full API reference here.

Even more REST API references

In addition to transcriptions, we now also offer REST API docs across the core building blocks of the Whereby platform. This includes API references for meetings, insights, recordings, and room customization.

We've also consolidated the links into a single reference doc to include details on authentication, versioning and rate limiting, making it easier to discover and work across all available endpoints. See what else is included.

 Expiry options for API keys

You can now set an expiry date when creating new API keys from your Embedded dashboard. The options include expiry after 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or never.

This gives teams greater control over key lifecycle management and aligns with best security practices for credential rotation.

Existing API keys are unaffected by this change and will continue to function without an expiration date. The "Never" option remains available for new keys, but may be deprecated in a future release as we move towards creating a more secure option for our users.

iOS App v7.30 is now available

We're excited to announce that v7.30 of our iOS app is now live on the App Store. This release brings improvements to in-room modal management, stability fixes, and several backend refinements. Now’s a great time to update our iOS app for a more reliable experience.

Clearer plan & product visibility in the dashboard

We've made it easier to see your plan details at a glance. Your plan and product type are now displayed at the top of your Embedded dashboard and in the side navigation, so it's always clear what account you're on.

This is particularly useful for teams navigating multiple accounts across several products.

If you’re on the Free/Explore plan, you’ll also see usage on the side navigation, including how many minutes you've used against your monthly allowance.

SDK Changelog

As always, we’ve made significant improvements to our SDK in addition to our feature enhancements. For a full list of changes and their commits, please check out our SDK repo changelog.
