The Whereby Native iOS SDK is Officially Out of Beta
We’re happy to announce the full public release of our iOS SDK. The Whereby iOS SDK allows you to integrate Whereby into your iOS app as a native component, rather than a web-based experience.
This offers control and customization over the meeting experience, and allows you to hook into powerful features such as listening to room events and sending commands to the room from the host application.
After several beta tests in real-time sessions, Version 1.0.1 marks an important milestone, being our first production-ready iOS SDK.
Here’s some of our recent updates.
1. Better support for viewers and participants
In this release, we’ve improved how different roles are represented and displayed in a meeting. Some of these improvements include;
Participant and viewer counts are now visible in the room header, making it easier to understand who’s in the room.
We’ve added full support for a viewer role, with its own tailored experience.
We re-introduced the “mute locally” option in the participant menu for better control over audio.
Added a meeting timer to the room header so everyone can easily track meeting duration.
2. Chat, recording, and transcription updates
This release ensured there are more visible privacy indicators, especially for recording and transcriptions. So users can now see when a meeting is being recorded or transcribed.
You can now also delete chat messages during a session in a Whereby room.
How to set up and customize the iOS native SDK
For more details on how to install the SDK, set required permissions, and integrate it into your experience, please refer to our documentation on this here.
We’d love your feedback
Thanks for building with our iOS SDK. Your feedback plays a huge role in shaping what comes next. If you have comments, suggestions, or questions, please submit an issue to our GitHub repo and help us improve the experience.
Have a great week
