New: Download your Whereby chats

The chat section of your Whereby calls is a great way to share resources, files, links, and other helpful information. This is why we’re happy to announce that, with this enhancement, you can now download the chat log of your Whereby calls.

How does it work?

You’ll now be able to download the chat transcript from a Whereby call, once the video/audio session has ended. Simply tap on the ‘Download Chats’ button when you leave a session.

Plus, you can choose to make the chats downloadable for only the host, or every participant.

How can I implement it?

By default, chat downloads are turned off on Whereby accounts. So to access this feature on your Whereby Embedded account, you’ll need to manually switch it on. To do this, turn on chat downloads from your Embedded dashboard by visiting:

Configure> Features> Room features> Chat>Make chat downloadable

Alternatively, you can use the chatDownload=<on|off> URL parameter

Can I use it on a free plan?

Yes. Chat downloads are available to everyone on Whereby Embedded, including the free plan.
