Whereby SDK & Product Updates March 2026

We’ve been making incremental improvements across Whereby, with a focus on both the in-session experience and our developer tools. Here’s what we recently shipped.

A new placement option for live captions

We’ve introduced a new way to position Live Captions during your Whereby sessions, giving you more control over your viewing experience.

In addition to the default “float bottom” option, you can now choose to reposition your captions using the “float right” option. To try it out, simply tap on the captions icon during a session, select “Position captions,” and choose “Float right.”

This new placement is especially useful during sessions that involve screen sharing and presentations.

*Live captions are a paid add-on feature available on Whereby Embedded. It is currently in public beta.

Our developer docs got a refresh

We recently rolled out a major update to our developer docs for Whereby Embedded. The updated documentation comes with a cleaner structure, improved navigation, and better search to help you find what you need faster.

You’ll notice quicker paths to get started, a new examples library, new tutorials, and stronger support across configuration, troubleshooting, and understanding usage in production. See what’s new.

Whereby’s Android SDK is officially out of Beta

The first public release of the Whereby Android SDK is now live. Which means you can now easily embed Whereby into your Android app using a WebView-based component.

The SDK integrates smoothly with your development environment, so you can customise the embedded experience, listen to room events, and send commands directly from your host app.
